Our names are Roy and Anita Simmonds and we have moved from Long Melford where we had a thriving Bed & Breakfast with three rooms (4 Diamond ETC). Now, however, as we get nearer to retirement, we have found ourselves in Lavenham with one twin or double room to offer to both previous 'Melford Guests' and new ones visiting this lovely town (providing 4 Diamond quality).
As house guests you will receive caring and friendly attention during your stay with us. Your room, decorated in pretty 'cottage' style, with its beams, provides you with a Colour TV, refreshment tray and, most important, comfortable beds. A hearty breakfast will set you up for your day ahead and Vegetarians are very welcome. |
| Prentice Street is off the Market Place between the 'Angel' and the 'Great House'.
You will find Woolcombers Cottage a little way down on the right. See the Street Map for more details. There is a convenient car park just minutes from our front door and a variety of excellent eating places within a short walk. |

In 1777 a Woolcomber lived at No. 38 and no doubt worked here also! We have just refurbished, however, and are happy to say the 'loo' is 'inside' - you will be pleased to know!
Yes, we have given No 38 a real 'make-over' and can offer you a very comfortable stay with good facilities amidst history and character. |
| Lavenham is to be found between Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds to the east of the A134. It is approximately 8 minutes' drive from Long Melford; 15 minutes from Sudbury and 20 minutes from Bury.
Situated in a convenient position for sightseeing, Lavenham makes a good centre for the tourist. Besides being famous for its Tudor appearance and 'Wool' history, it now offers excellent facilities and abundance of interest for today's visitor. The Church and the Guildhall are an absolute 'must', not to mention the Crooked House and the beamed architecture in the attractive old streets. A Tourist Information Office is situated a short walk from the cottage and provides all the information you may require. We, knowing the area well, are also on hand to answer most of your queries. The nearest railway station is in Sudbury and there is a bus stop in the High Street. |
